The cause of this wear can mainly be found in strongly grinding materials like sand and gravel in the sewage. An overhaul of the screw pump body and the trough has to be considered when an increased gap between the screw pump body and the trough can be perceived which has a negative influence on the efficiency and therefore requires an increased capacity of the screw pump.<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-499 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spaansbabcock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Schermafbeelding-2017-02-07-om-10.22.39.png\" width=\"869\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.spaansbabcock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Schermafbeelding-2017-02-07-om-10.22.39.png 869w, https:\/\/www.spaansbabcock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Schermafbeelding-2017-02-07-om-10.22.39-300x75.png 300w, https:\/\/www.spaansbabcock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Schermafbeelding-2017-02-07-om-10.22.39-768x192.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 869px) 100vw, 869px\" \/><\/h3>\n<p>The following refurbishment options can be considered:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Refurbishment of the screw pump body and renewal of the concrete trough<\/li>\n<li>Refurbishment of the screw pump body and replacement of the concrete trough by a steel liner<\/li>\n<li>Refurbishment of the screw pump body and put in the existing trough with a new self supported steel liner, adapted to the screw pump body. Here no, or only minor, civil costs are incurred<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-502\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spaansbabcock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/reno7.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"178\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Working procedure of the different options:<\/p>\n<p><b><u>To a)<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Dismantling of the screw pump and transportation to the factory in Balk, the Netherlands<\/li>\n<li>Blast cleaning of the screw pump body<\/li>\n<li>Restoring and\/or, if necessary, part renewal of the flights of the screw pump<\/li>\n<li>Adjustment of the outside diameter on a lathe to the required size<\/li>\n<li>Checking the roundness of the screw pump and balancing and re-machining the flanges<\/li>\n<li>Applying new coating<\/li>\n<li>In the meantime removal of the old concrete trough screed<\/li>\n<li>Transportation of the screw pump body to site and installation of the renovated screw pump body and the refurbished bearings<\/li>\n<li>Re-screeding of the concrete trough<\/li>\n<li>Setting the refurbishment screw pump into operation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><u>To b)<\/u><\/b> &#8211; Point 1 \u2013 7 as above<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Building the new steel trough liner together with the screw pump body<\/li>\n<li>Transportation and installation of the screw pump body and steel liner and the refurbished bearings<\/li>\n<li>Backfilling \/ grouting around the steel trough liner<\/li>\n<li>Setting the refurbished screw pump into operation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><u>To c)<\/u><\/b> &#8211; Point 1 \u2013 6 as above<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Building the new static self supporting steel trough liner together with the screw pump body<\/li>\n<li>Transportation and installation of the screw pump body and steel liner and the refurbished bearings<\/li>\n<li>Setting the refurbished screw pump into operation. Because of the self supported static steel trough liner no backfilling is required.
